Am I My BROTHER’S Keeper?
Am I My BROTHER’S Keeper? Absolutely yes!!!
I heard a very well known preacher refer to conservative Christian circles as, “…those dead churches.” I also heard another equally well known preacher refer to less conservative Christians as maniacs. Both of them love the Lord. Both of them love their churches. Both of them are gifted teachers. And both of them were wrong!
The first three words of I Corinthians 1:13 state, “Is Christ divided?” The answer in no! Christ is not divided. Christians are ONE in Christ. If conservatives are dead, then all of us are dead. Christ is not divided! If other Christian circles are maniacs, then all of us are maniacs. Christ is not divided. Church, it is time for us to GROW UP. Stop repeating negative statements made by others about circumstances about which you are uninformed, and people you do not know. Christ is not divided. You are your brother’s keeper. You should be lifting up fellow Christians in prayer, and not ripping fellow Christians to shreds with slander. Christ is not divided. We should be celebrating our UNITY in CHRIST instead of attempting to garner a following by bashing others as a self-serving exercise of self aggrandizement. Christ is not divided.
Do we have differences? Of course we do. What family do you know that does not have internal differences? Yet with those differences intact, we remain family. The truth is that as we grow and mature, we learn how to deal with our differences by GRACE and through FAITH. We are not divided camps! The Body of Christ is not schizophrenic. WE ARE ONE BODY IN CHRIST, for it is written in Romans 12:4-5, “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.”
Attention all Christians! Pentecostals need the Baptist. Baptist need the Episcopalians. Episcopalians need the Methodists. Methodists need the Charismatics. Why? Because Christ is not divided! All the TRUTH of God is in the Body of Christ. If we will learn to love and listen to one another, we will share TRUTH with each other. It is the unifying nature of this truth that terrifies the devil, but thrills the heart of God. We are each other’s keeper because we are one in the undivided body of Christ!
