When God Calls YOU

Genesis 12:1-7  Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.  So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.  And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.

Often we think of God’s calling as a Divine summons to one of the five-fold ministries of the church. He does call some people to these offices.  But every believer needs to understand that 1. They have been called by God, and 2. You are continuously being called by God.  God’s initial calls to us happen before we are born again.  While we are still lost in sin, God’s love calls to us by His Spirit, through His Word, through the kindness of His servants in ways too numerable to mention.  God’s initial calls are for us to come to Him and be saved through Jesus Christ His Son.

After we are saved, God calls us to service in whatever capacity pleases Him. God has blessed each of us with talents, aptitudes, and abilities that are perfectly suited for serving Him.  The Devil and the world will tempt you to believe you are worthless.  Don’t believe their lies.  God says, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made…”  That does not sound anything like worthless to me.

God is calling, but are you listening?  God is calling, but are you answering? God is calling, but are you following? Obedience to God’s callings on your life is one of the keys to walking in victory. If God has called you to be a sharp knife, and you refuse His call, then you will go through life being a horrible spoon.  The only thing that defines the parameters of victorious living in your own life is your obedience to the callings of God.  Who made you? God! It was God who designed you for His purpose, and it is God who is calling you to that purpose for which you were created.  You will never get onto the road to victory without first listening to and following God’s calling.

Shhhh! He’s calling right now!  What is He saying to you, beloved?
